Description

Grown as an annual with clusters of small white flowers produces a seed which has an aromatic smell and a pleasant, sweet taste.

Used in flavouring cakes, bread, soups, apple sauce and stews. Green leaves used in salads.

Harvesting seed

Let seedheads dry on the plant and then cut and leave to dry until brittle.

Rub out the seed and sieve.
