Description

Carried by the North American Cherokee on their forced repatriation in the 1830's on the march which became known as the Trail of Tears.

Highly productive with slender purple pods and small black seeds which are traditionally dried for winter use.

Harvesting seed

Leave on the plant to dry and turn a tan colour.

Pick pods or the whole plant and break open to release the seeds. Separate from the chaff.

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place.
