Old variety originating from west of France.

Quick growing with a short thick stem with yellowy green foliage.

Best for Autumn cropping as it is not very hardy.

Harvesting seed

The seed head rests on a tall stem and will shatter, releasing seeds as they dry.

When the seeds blacken with the flowers, cut off the stem and place upside down in a bag. Leave for about 3 weeks then sieve and winnow.

Store in an airtight container.
