Cucurbita pepo

Description

An unusual trailing or climbing variety producing long curved fruits with a bell at the flower end and can grow up to 1m in length.

With a good flavour it is treated like a courgette when small or stored like a squash if allowed to ripen fully.

Harvesting seed

Harvest about three weeks after the fruit matures.

Remove the pulp and seed, wash then sieve.

Dry on a plate for a few weeks and then store in an airtight container.
