A biennial plant which is grown for it's leaves.

Varieties are classified according to the season when they are available to eat - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Sow in a seedbed at the depth of 13mm. Germination will take between 7 and 12 days. When the cabbage plants are big enough to handle they can be transplanted.

Insect pollinated and may cross with other members of the Brassica family.
